Games Leaving Game Pass: September 15, 2026

10 games are leaving Xbox Game Pass on September 15, and the list hurts. Cyberpunk 2077 is the marquee departure, but Dead Cells, Frostpunk 2, and Spiritfarer are all going too, and every one of them is worth your time. You've got just 1 day before they're gone. Here's what you need to know.

What's Leaving September 15, 2026

Game Metacritic Time to Beat Platforms
Dead Cells 89 ~10.5 hrs Console, PC, Cloud
Mullet MadJack 88 ~3 hrs Console, PC, Cloud
Cyberpunk 2077 86-91 ~24 hrs Console, Cloud
Frostpunk 2 86 ~11 hrs PC
Spiritfarer 85 ~25 hrs Console, PC, Cloud
Superliminal 77 ~3 hrs Console, PC, Cloud
Commandos: Origins 65-71 ~25 hrs Console, PC, Cloud
Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor 47 ~16 hrs Console, PC, Cloud
Cricket 24 N/A ~12 hrs Console, PC, Cloud
Train Sim World 5 N/A N/A Console, PC, Cloud

All titles will be removed at the end of the day on September 15, 2026. Game Pass members can purchase any of these at a 20% discount before they leave.

A couple of notes on platforms: Cyberpunk 2077 leaves on Console and Cloud only, and Frostpunk 2 leaves on PC only. Everything else goes across all three.

Don't Miss: Priority Picks

1. Cyberpunk 2077

This is the big one. Night City has come a long way since launch, and by now it's one of the best open-world RPGs you can play. The catch: the main story runs around 24 hours, so there's zero chance of finishing it in a single day. If you're already deep in a playthrough, grab it at 20% off and keep going. If you've never touched it, this is your sign to buy it before it leaves.

Time commitment: ~24 hours main story. Not finishable before it leaves.

Play if you like: The Witcher 3, Deus Ex, Fallout: New Vegas

2. Dead Cells

The highest-rated console game on this list at 89, and for good reason. Dead Cells is a roguelite Metroidvania that's endlessly replayable, easy to pick up, and brutal in the best way. Even if you can't "beat" it in a day, you can absolutely get hooked in one sitting.

Time commitment: ~10.5 hours for a first clear, but you'll want more.

Play if you like: Hades, Hollow Knight, Rogue Legacy

3. Spiritfarer

A completely different vibe from the other two, and a standout in its own right. Spiritfarer is a hand-drawn management adventure about ferrying spirits to the afterlife, and it hits harder emotionally than you'd expect. At ~25 hours it's not a one-day finish, so start it now or buy it to see it through.

Time commitment: ~25 hours main story.

Play if you like: Stardew Valley, Gris, Animal Crossing

Quick Takes on the Rest

  • Mullet MadJack (88): A fast, ridiculous anime FPS you can actually finish tonight at around 3 hours. If you want a win before the deadline, this is it.
  • Frostpunk 2 (86, PC only): Bleak, brilliant city-builder survival. ~11 hours for the campaign, so it's doable if you commit, but keep an eye on that PC-only limitation.
  • Superliminal (77): A clever first-person perspective puzzler that runs about 3 hours. Genuinely completable before it leaves.
  • Commandos: Origins (65-71): Real-time tactics and stealth. Mid-tier reviews and a ~25-hour campaign make this one a buy-if-you-love-the-genre pick.
  • Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor (47): The low score comes from a tiny review sample, and fans of the survivor-like genre will still find plenty here. Sad to see it go.
  • Cricket 24: A niche sports sim. Worth a look only if cricket is your thing.
  • Train Sim World 5: An open-ended train simulator with no real endpoint. Strictly for the sim crowd.

FAQ: Games Leaving Game Pass

Can I still play these games after September 15, 2026?
No, not through Game Pass. Once a game leaves, it's removed from the catalog and you lose access. The only way to keep playing is to buy it, and Game Pass members get 20% off any of these titles before they leave.

Will these games come back to Game Pass?
Possibly. Games do rotate back into the service over time, but Microsoft doesn't announce a timeline or guarantee any return. Don't count on it if there's something here you really want to play.

What if I'm mid-playthrough?
Your save data stays on your account. If you buy the game or it returns to Game Pass later, you can pick up right where you left off. You just can't launch it in the meantime without owning it.

What's Coming to Replace Them

Game Pass isn't just losing games this month. Here's some of what's landing in September 2026:

  • RuneScape: Dragonwilds (day one, Sept 15)
  • Dune: Awakening (day one, Sept 22)
  • Minecraft Dungeons 2 (day one, Sept 29)
  • Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War (Sept 8)
  • Moonlighter 2 (day one, Sept 2)
  • EA Sports FC 27 (10-hour trial, Sept 18)

Never Miss a Departure Again
